Walking Together in Remembrance and Hope - Saturday 10th of May 4:15am
The Darkness Into Light Walk is more than just an early morning event it is a powerful symbol of hope, healing, and support. As we step forward together, we honor those we have lost, support those who are struggling, and stand in solidarity with one another.
As a school community we are using this moment to remember, reflect, and unite, offering strength in times of sadness and reminding ourselves of the importance of kindness, compassion, and connection.
Our route will take us through the streets of Monkstown and Dún Laoghaire, covering approximately 5km. As we walk in the quiet of the early morning, we will witness the transition from darkness to light, a poignant reminder that even in our darkest moments, hope and support are always within reach.
Pieta House provides free, professional services to individuals struggling with suicidal thoughts and self-harm, as well as support for families affected by suicide. By participating in this walk, we not only raise awareness but also contribute to the life-saving work they do every day.
We encourage everyone from students, families, teachers, past pupils, and friends to take part. Whether you walk to remember a loved one, to support someone in need, or simply to be part of this special moment, your presence matters.
After the walk, we invite all participants to join us in the school hall, where the Parents’ Council and Student Council will provide refreshments. This will be a chance to gather, reflect, and connect with others in the community.
